Top 3 Reasons to Have An Engagement Session (in the Smokies!)

Anyone who has ever walked down the aisle will be the first to tell you: planning a wedding is stressful.  All the details, coordinating, dresses, colors, types of silverware?! ...It can get a little overwhelming.  Sometimes you can get so caught up in the details, you forget to make time for the one reason you're planning your special day to begin with!  Tensions can run high and suddenly that "special day" will turn into "let's get this day over with."  And nobody wants to feel that way about their own wedding.

It's always a good idea to set time for you and your fiancee to get away from all the pressures of the upcoming nuptials.  Because at the end of the day, this wedding is about how two people fell in love, not what kind of silverware your guests will be using to eat their dinner at the reception.

(Although, I guess it is important to some people since it's brought up...)

So what's the best way to burn off that wedding planning stress and get some much needed alone time with your boo?  Why not take the weekend off and come down to the Smokies to get some engagement photos taken!  What are engagement photos, you ask?

Engagement photos are images taken after he proposes and before your actual wedding.  These are photos that are meant to capture your relationship as it is right now before your two lives merge forever as husband and wife.  These are not meant to overshadow your wedding photos but are also not supposed to be dull and forgettable like the millions of couple selfies you see on Instagram.  They are meant to be looked back on as a milestone in your relationship.  Having your engagement photos in the Great Smoky Mountains will offer a very unique look that is different from all of the other photos you've become bored of seeing back home. Other than your actual wedding ceremony, the proposal and engagement leading up to that ceremony is very important to the both of you and deserve to be captured in stunning, professional photos.

Is having an engagement session worth it?  We absolutely believe so!  If you're still on the fence if having a Smoky Mountain engagement session is right for you, here are the
Top 3 Reasons to take that on the spur road trip to the Smokies!

2. You Will Get AMAZING Pictures!

It's no secret that the Smoky Mountains are a beautiful destination.  I mean, look at these views!  Imagine your engagement photos having a backdrop like this to show off at your wedding!  Photos like these are sure to draw people's attention.  If the two of you enjoy being in the great outdoors and hiking, there's no better way to capture that hobby you share and enjoy together.  Work with your photographer and get creative!  Bring signs with your wedding date written on the front.  Get some props that reflect your favorite past times, hobbies, movies, etc.  Your love story is unique, and your photos should reflect that.

Bonus tip!  All the amazing photos you see here are taken by our professional photography studio, Gatlinburg Photo Studios.  If you like what you see, be sure to contact us so we can get your engagement session ready to roll!  Even if you're not getting married in the Smokies, that certainly doesn't mean you can't plan a visit to get some stunning and scenic engagement photos to take back home with you.  Remember Reason 1: Put the planning away for a while and spend some time with your boo!

3. Tell Your Entire Love Story
(Not Just the Wedding)

I touched on some of this above, that other than your wedding ceremony, the proposal and engagement are very important moments for the two of you, and deserve to be captured.  Many couples unfortunately put so much emphasis on their wedding that a lot of the beautiful moments that are shared leading up to that special day are overshadowed by the grandness of the wedding ceremony, even years after. Please don't misunderstand, your wedding is going to be one of the most important day of your lives, but remember that you are going to have days before and after your wedding that deserve as much love and attention.  Capturing engagement photos in Gatlinburg can offer you a completely different look and feel in your albums. Many couples can feel that all of their images look the same and are seeking a fresh, new perspective. Capturing both scenic engagement photos in Gatlinburg, and wedding photos in the beauty of The Smoky Mountains, provides the interesting variety that couples seek in diversifying the look of how they are documenting their love. Remember back to your first date.  Your first kiss.  The first time you said "I love you." to each other.  Moments like that are meant to be treasured for a lifetime.  Even looking to the future, your love story doesn't end after you say "I do." (Despite what Disney Fairy Tales may tell you.) You may have children (or furbabies!) that will get to share some special days with the two of you.  Although you won't be able to capture every little moment on camera, it's still an amazing thing to be able to look back on all chapters of your love story, all the way from the beginning. Could there possibly be anything more memorable than looking back a few years after your wedding at your engagement & wedding photos that contain some of the most beautifully scenic experiences?
